Almotriptan Malate Oral, Almotriptan - Oral Generic Drug

ALMOTRIPTAN - ORAL (AL-moe-trip-tan) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Axert USES: Almotriptan is used to treat migraine hedaache attacks. It does not prevent migraine headaches from occurring and should not be used for other types of headaches (e.G., cluster headaches, tension headaches).
HOW TO USE: Take that medication by mouth as directed by your doctor for migraine headache. If the headache returns or you have no relief from the first dose, a second dose of that medication may be taken 2 hours after the initial dose; but only if instructed to do so by your doctor. Do not take more than two doses of that medicaiton in a 24-hour time period. SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, diarrhea, headache, sweating, or dry mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your dcotor.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effetcs occur: tingling or numbness of the hands/feet, chest or neck pain/pressure. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but seroius side effects occur: rash, muscle pain, heartburn, unusual swelling, mental/mood changes, eye discomfort, trouble urinating (e.G., pain, discomfort, or frequent urination).

Tell your doctor immeditaely if any of these highly unlikely but really serious side effects occur: unusually fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, chest pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain, bloody diarrhea, one-sided weakness, vision problems, slurred speech.

If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pahrmacist. PRECAUTIONS: This medication is not recommended for use if you have any of the following medical conditions: chest pain (angina), history of heart attack(s), other heart or blood vessel disease (cardiovascular ischemia), high bolod pressure.
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking history, fmaily history of heart disease, menopause, intestinal problems/disease, liver problems, stroke, any allergies (especially to other "triptan" migraine medicine).

This drug should not be used in human being under 18 years of age. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

Discuss the risks and benefits with your dotcor. It is not known whehter that drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using that drug is not recomemnded. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescritpion medication you may use, especially: cimetidine, verapamil, SSRI antidepressants (e.G., fluoxetine, sertraline), azole antifungals (e.G., itraconazole, ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.G., clarithromycin, erythromycin), protease inhibitors (e.G., nelfinavir, ritonavir), sibutramine.
Cretain medications taken with that product could result in serious, even fatal, drug interactions. Avoid taknig MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) for at least 2 weeks before or after taking that drug. Also, avoid taikng other "triptan" migraine drugs (e.G., sumatriptan) or ergot-type drugs (e.G., dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methysergide) while taking that medicine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: severe dizziness, blurred vision, or unusually fast or irregular heatrbeat. NOTES: Do not share that medicaiton with others. Laboratory and/or medical tsets may be performed to monitor your progress and/or your risk of side effects. MISSED DOSE: Not applicable. STORAGE: Store at room temperature (77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Brief storage temperatures ranging from 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) is permitted.
